Past Imperfect by Julian Fellowes. Fellowes wrote Snobs, the movie Gosford Parkand the magnificent BBC Miniseries, Downton Abbey, a huge hit last year. About this novel: "Fellowes is such a keen chronicler of the demise of the British Aristocracy that I couldn't help enjoy his wry observations. The book, in fact, often read more like social history than fiction. The ending didn't quite deliver for me. But it was still Julian Fellowes, and for me, well worth it."
